+ What is a namelisting? +
A namelisting is a fanlisting for a certain name. If you like a name, you
can join to the list of fans. Namelistings are stored at The
Namelistings.Org.
Now... A fanlisting is simply an online list of fans of a subject, such as a
TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans
from around the world to join.
There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your
name and country.
Fanlistings do not have to be large sites (although some are), they are just
a place where you can sign up with other fans.
+ Behind the name "Judith" +
JUDITH:
Gender:
Feminine
Usage:
English, Jewish, French, German, Spanish, Biblical
Pronounced:
JOO-dith (English), zhoo-DEET (French), YOO-dit (German)
From the Hebrew name יְהוּדִית
(Yehudit) (Yehudit) which meant "woman from Judea". Judea was
an ancient region in Israel. In the Old Testament Judith is one of the wives
of Esau. This is also the name of the main character of the apocryphal Book
of Judith who kills Holofernes, an invading Assyrian commander, by beheading
him in his sleep.
Another possible meaning is ''He [God] will be praised.''
In the Book of Judith, an apocryphal (or unofficial) scriptural writing, the
title character is a Jewish woman who risks her life to save her people.
Judith's village is on the road to Jerusalem. A gigantic Assyrian army under
general Holofernes has beseiged it, and things are going poorly for the vilagers.
Judith approaches the enemy camp and uses her beauty and charm to ingratiate
herself with Holofernes. He invites her to a banquet, where he over-imbibes.
She creeps up on the sleeping soldier, draws his sword, and cuts off his head.
Returning to her people, Judith encourages the garrison to make a sortie. The
leaderless Assyrians flee before the attacking Jews, never to return in Judith's
lifetime.
+ Why "Prayer" and why I like this name? +
Prayer, for the meaning of "Judea" the region for this name comes from, and since Judea means "praise God", I thought that the name would suit good. I liked this name since my childhood, for a strange reason, and then, since I listened to A Perfect Circle's album "Mer de Noms", where the song "Judith" is one of my favorites so far from the band. Then, the name Judith is the same as one of my most beloved original characters, that you can see featured in this version of the layout.
